Riding for the Disabled Association S.A. Inc is a non-profit organisation dedicated to providing horse riding and other equestrian activities to children and adults with a range of disabilities.

These clinical exercises provide many health benefits, including balance; co-ordination; builds muscle strength; posture as well as social skills and enjoyment.

Limited grants and funding is received through a variety of government agencies, charitable trusts and corporate organisations.

Here at Blackwood RDA, we are trying to do our bit for local disabled children. On Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays children from local schools for the disabled attend sessions at Blackwood. On Saturdays, we have private sessions for riders of various ages and abilities.

All our staff at Blackwood - administration, coaches and horse handlers - are volunteers, willing to give their time and effort to help disabled folk.

Feed and vet fees for the horses, fencing repairs, running costs and general maintenance take up all of our money received. We are forced to fund raise - usually once again through our wonderful and supportive volunteers.
